The end of the year is always a great time to reflect on accomplishments and refocus on goals.  At Club Julian, 2019 represented our 28th year of service as the North Hills premier full-service fitness facility, and we are proud of what we were able to achieve this year from several different perspectives including facility upgrades, enhanced programming & services, and member satisfaction.

Club Julian made several significant facility investments in 2019, the greatest of which was our extensive HVAC and lighting projects that took place in the spring.  We were able to replace all six of the facility’s rooftop HVAC units and install a completely new lighting system throughout the club with minimal disruption to members.  The result of the work has been a more consistently comfortable workout environment during all seasons, as well as more environmentally friendly and cost-efficient systems that will benefit all for years to come.  Club Julian also replaced the carpeting in the Women’s Locker Room in addition to several other minor upgrades throughout the club.

In the fall, Club Julian introduced its new HydroMassage service for members with great success!  

With HydroMassage, members can now enjoy the recovery and relaxation benefits of massage at a very affordable cost.  The feedback that we have received has been extremely positive to this point, and we look forward to continuing to see the new service grow and benefit our members in the years to come.

High-quality wellness programming has always been a hallmark of the Club Julian experience, and in 2019 we continued to stay ahead of the curve with several great initiatives ranging from the addition of new HIIT classes to our already strong group fitness lineup to the continuation of our very successful “Wellness Wednesday” series under the direction of Club Julian’s innovative wellness director, Deb Petitta.  We also introduced a new Open House Event in the summer aimed at welcoming the seniors to Club Julian and introducing them to the myriad of ways we can help them improve their general wellness and quality of life.  

While first-rate amenities and strong programming are certainly at the heart of any successful wellness facility, the soul of Club Julian’s success over the years has always been its people.  This year we welcomed several wonderful new additions to our family of trainers, group fitness instructors, lifeguards, cleaning & maintenance department personnel, and front desk support. These new employees benefited greatly from the mentoring of our long-time employees – many of whom have been with us for decades.  I personally believe that Club Julian’s staff is unrivaled anywhere in terms of experience, dedication, expertise, and an unwavering commitment to the needs of our membership community. We have been able to thrive in an increasingly competitive fitness environment for the past 28 years because of how we treat our members.  This belief is confirmed by the fact that Club Julian consistently maintains a member retention rate that is almost twice that of the industry average – and we have done so for nearly three decades. In my 28 years at the Club, that is one of the achievements that I am most proud of, and I thank all those who work hard everyday to make it a reality.

As we wind 2019 to a close, I would like to thank all of our members making Club Julian part of their lives, and I would like to wish the best of the holiday season to all!  Look for even greater things from Club Julian, and from yourself, in 2020. Happy New Year!
