The tragic events in Squirrel Hill last weekend have shaken our city, and we at Club Julian share in the grief as we mourn the loss of longtime member, Dr. Richard Gottfried. Richard (65) was a fixture at Club Julian for years, enjoying regular morning workouts and camaraderie at Club Julian with his wife of nearly 40 years, Dr. Peg Durachko – both of whom served the greater North Hills area as dentists. The couple was known to provide no or low cost professional dental services to those who could not afford care, and they were very active volunteers in other ways in the communities of Ross Township and Squirrel Hill respectively.
“We at Club Julian were deeply shocked and saddened to learn that Richard was one of the victims of this senseless act of violence,” says Club Julian general manager, Mike Savrese. “We grieve for all lives lost on that terrible day, but it really hits home when you lose one of your own. On behalf of the Julian Family, our staff, and our members, we would like to extend our deepest sympathy and prayers to Peg and the family.”
